CARNIVAL CALABAR FLIGHT SHORTAGE FOR REVELERS

Image
The Calabar Carnival has once again proven to be a massive draw , attracting approximately 3 million revelers. Despite its global popularity, the state government failed to capitalize on this opportunity by not providing sufficient flights to Calabar. Instead, resources were allocated to the Ogoja Carnival and a state house in Ogoja, which many consider a misallocation of funds. The lack of flights led to sold-out situations as early as November, causing inconvenience to many attendees. This oversight highlights the need for experienced individuals in Governor Prince Otu's administration. The presence of President Buhari and two state governors at the carnival was a notable positive, but the government's slow response to addressing the flight shortage is a concern. The government should have urgently provided additional aircraft to Callyair, ensuring that the state is better equipped to handle the influx of visitors for the  events. Governor Otu's administration has shown ...

CALABAR CARNIVAL FAILS TO TREND ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Image
The recently Calabar Carnival, a flagship event of Cross River State, failed to generate significant buzz on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This lack of online presence has raised questions about the state government's strategy for promoting the event and engaging with local content creators. At the heart of this issue is the government's apparent failure to recognize and partner with individual state-owned bloggers and social media influencers. These local content creators have a deep understanding of the state's culture, events, and audience, making them ideal partners for promoting the carnival. By neglecting to collaborate with these influencers, the state government missed a golden opportunity to amplify the carnival's reach and impact on social media. This oversight is particularly surprising, given the significant investment made in organizing the event. State-owned bloggers and social media influencers possess a unique ability to s...

STAMPEDE: THE NEED FOR GOVERNMENT AND POLITICIANS TO USE TARGETED APPROACH TO AVOID STAMPEDE.

Image
By MARCEL EDEM  cross River live Media. The recent stampede tragedies in Abuja and Anambra State have brought to the forefront the need for alternative methods of distributing gifts and promoting fun fairs without putting citizens' lives at risk. The root cause of these incidents can be attributed to the widespread dissemination of information by the media, which often creates unnecessary hype and attracts large crowds to events that are not equipped to handle them. Governments and politicians must reassess their approach to hosting events, prioritizing the safety and well-being of attendees over the desire for publicity and grandeur. One possible solution is to adopt a more decentralized and targeted approach to gift-giving and community engagement. For instance, governments could partner with local community organizations and leaders to distribute gifts and resources directly to those in need, thereby avoiding the need for large gatherings. Another approach could be to leverage t...
