CARNIVAL CALABAR FLIGHT SHORTAGE FOR REVELERS

The Calabar Carnival has once again proven to be a massive draw

, attracting approximately 3 million revelers. Despite its global popularity, the state government failed to capitalize on this opportunity by not providing sufficient flights to Calabar. Instead, resources were allocated to the Ogoja Carnival and a state house in Ogoja, which many consider a misallocation of funds.

The lack of flights led to sold-out situations as early as November, causing inconvenience to many attendees. This oversight highlights the need for experienced individuals in Governor Prince Otu's administration. The presence of President Buhari and two state governors at the carnival was a notable positive, but the government's slow response to addressing the flight shortage is a concern.

The government should have urgently provided additional aircraft to Callyair, ensuring that the state is better equipped to handle the influx of visitors for the  events. Governor Otu's administration has shown promise in other areas, such as waste management and road construction. but it's essential to prioritize tourism and infrastructure development to maximize the economic benefits of events like the Calabar Carnival.
