MY DAUGHTER IS OUR FIRST LADY UMOH ENO INSISTS
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, Clarifies Daughter's Role as Coordinator of First Lady's Office
Governor Umo Eno has refuted reports claiming his daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, was appointed as the new First Lady of Akwa Ibom State. Speaking at All Nations Christian Ministry Intl in Eket, the governor explained that his daughter's coordination of the office was a natural decision, not driven by politics.
Following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, on September 26, 2024, Governor Eno emphasized that First Ladies are not appointed, but rather, accompany their husbands in office. He stated that Mrs. O
bareki, who was her mother's closest assistant, would coordinate the office to ensure continuity and bring healing to the family.
The governor assured that priority would be given to his late wife's pet project, "Golden Initiative For All," and other support programs, leveraging Mrs. Obareki's experience, education, and exposure.
To clarify, Mrs. Obareki's role is that of Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, not an appointed First Lady.
