The absence of government

officials at state-organized events in Cross River State, especially when the governor and deputy governor are not present, has become a pressing concern. Events like the Cross River Trade Fair at U.J. Esuene Stadium and the Cross State Students Entrepreneurship, Employability, and Mentorship program at the Metropolitan Hotel are crucial platforms for engagement, yet they often lack representation from government aides.

This lack of representation sends the wrong signal to the public and undermines the efforts of the state government. Government aides, including commissioners, special advisers, and other high-ranking officials, have a critical role to play in promoting government initiatives, providing support, and fostering partnerships with local businesses and organizations.Their presence at these events demonstrates the government's commitment to the state's development and well-being.

Moreover, attending these events provides government aides with valuable opportunities to interact with citizens, listen to their concerns, and gather feedback on government policies and programs. This helps to build trust and foster a sense of accountability between the government and the people.

The current governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, has shown commitment to the state's development through various initiatives, including proposals for reducing transportation costs and improving healthcare. However, the absence of government officials at state-organized events may hinder the effectiveness of these initiatives.

To address this challenge, Cross River State government should emphasize the importance of attendance at state-organized events, even in the absence of the governor and deputy governor. This can be achieved through clear directives, incentives for attendance, and regular evaluation of officials' participation in state events.

Ultimately, the presence of government aides at state-organized events is crucial for promoting governance, accountability, and development in Cross River State. By prioritizing attendance and engagement, the state government can demonstrate its commitment to the well-being of its citizens and foster a more inclusive and participatory governance process.
