SSA ON ENVIRONMENT MAGNUS NTUI REACT TO VENDORS WASTE MANAGEMENT WITHIN CALABAR METROPOLIS

WASTE MANAGEMENT FOR ROADSIDE VENDORS IN CALABAR METROPOLIS

[10/2, 22:55] Hon. Magnus Ntui SSA On Environment: Directive on Waste Management for Roadside Vendors in Calabar Metropolis

To address the escalating issue of waste litter in Calabar Metropolis, I, Hon. Magnus Ntui, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, hereby issue the following directive:

Following our recent inspection of eateries in Cross River State, it has become evident that roadside food vendors and other businesses are the primary contributors to this problem. To mitigate this, all roadside vendors are required to obtain Waste Baskets from the Ministry of Environment to ensure proper disposal of waste in designated bins or alternatively, relocate their businesses away from the roadside to prevent the widespread scattering of waste.

This measure aligns with the Federal Ministry of Environment's emphasis on responsible waste management, highlighting the need for individuals and organizations to handle waste with utmost care to avoid harm to others and the environment.

To ensure adherence to this directive, roadside food vendors and other businesses must obtain waste baskets from the Ministry of Environment or the market for Proper disposal of waste in designated bins, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment around their business premises.

Failure to comply may result in relocation of business or further action.

This initiative is part of the government's efforts to promote environmental sustainability and protect public health in Cross River State.

Signed,

Hon. Magnus Ntui

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment
